ESET Security Review
ESET security review
ESET’s suite offers the best value-for-money. Its malware detection rate comes close to perfection and the suite offers an array of useful features within a tiny footprint. Premium versions include parental controls, a secure web browser and password manager and the Android package includes an anti-theft feature that can help find your phone that has disappeared. The security features for networks, including a firewall and the option to check home devices for vulnerabilities, are beneficial.
SysInspector is one of the most impressive tools. It takes a snapshot and highlights important Registry entries and running processes. It’s a bit daunting for newbies, but if you’re used to more advanced task managers such as those in the Sysinternals process explorer, you’ll feel right at in the comfort of your own home.
Scheduling scans on demand is another fantastic feature. This is an excellent alternative to real-time security and it’s simple and quick to use. It’s just a shame that ESET does not group this with other scheduling tasks and its UI makes it more difficult to locate in comparison to some of its competitors.
Other important features include a powerful form filler that can be used for online banking, an excellent spam filter that earns the best scores in our tests, as well as a effective password manager that’s simple to use. The password manager is only available in the premium version and requires a separate ESET account, however it works just as well as the standalone solutions I’ve tried.
